Itinerary
Whale-Watching
Begin your adventure with a 2.5-hour whale-watching and nature tour. Cruise to the Tlingit Village of Hoonah, located on Chichagof Island. From the decks of the vessel, you'll have the opportunity to spot a variety of local wildlife, including humpback whales, sea lions, Dall's porpoises, harbor seals, orca whales, bald eagles and shorebirds. While on the trip, you will enjoy a delicious boxed lunch.
Bear-Viewing
Once the boat docks at Chichagof Island, you'll be greeted by your guides and begin your quest for bears and wildlife in the Tongass National Forest. The route for this portion of the tour varies greatly, as the knowledgeable guides will take you directly to see the Alaskan brown bear in its natural habitat. You may spot them fishing for salmon in a stream or may even go to the top of a local mountain to survey a river valley. Escape the crowds for a day and see stunning views of Chichagof Island.
Flight-seeing
After your Alaskan brown bear and wildlife search, you'll be transported to the local airport to enjoy a 30-minute flight-seeing tour back to Juneau. From your positon in the aircraft, gaze down on the Inside Passage and the Juneau Icefield. You'll see many different landmarks, including Admiralty Island, Point Retreat Lighthouse, Funter Bay, Icy Strait, Lynn Canal, Herbert Glacier, Eagle Glacier, Mendenhall Glacier and dogsled camps, and Auke Bay.
