A shore excursion to the Acropolis is a great way to spend your time in port in Athens. The Syntagma Metro Station, in Syntagma Square where your Acropolis walking tour begins, contains many archaeological artifacts including ancient grave stones, an aqueduct from the 5th century BC, pottery, a 2,000-year-old beehive and a mosaic from the 5th century AD.
As you walk through Syntagma Square, the heart of the city, you’ll see the impressive Greek Parliament House (Old Royal Palace).
Continue strolling through the paved streets of the Plaka neighborhood before arriving at the Lysicrates Monument from the 4th century BC and the remnants of an old Christian church. A 10-minute walk up the beautiful Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian walkway will bring you to the Acropolis, crowned by the Parthenon, with its spectacular views over the city below.

Excellent guide; very informative; guide was careful to find shade and appropriately pace the climb to the Acropolis so that all could comfortably keep up; my only complaint was how much more we paid for the taxi service from the port; Viator should provide clear information on the web site that the metro is a good option to reach the tour at a more reasonable price; those who knew this paid almost half of what we did by just booking the tour without the transfer service.
